Robert Abela has admitted that he has been trying to infect journalists with Covid-19 by not wearing a mask during press events.
The Prime Minister’s insistence on taking off his mask to answer journalists’ questions has been the cause of much debate and confusion.
But during an interview on One TV yesterday, Abela revealed the true reason.
“OK, I admit it. I tested positive for Covid two weeks ago, and I’ve been trying to infect journalists ever since,” Abela said, while wearing a mask to protect the One TV presenter.
“Of course I understand the importance of masks. But these pesky journalists are always asking me questions – about Covid, about the Daphne inquiry, about immigration. Their latest thing is whether or not I’m going to recuse myself from deciding whether to give Il-Koħħu a pardon because I was the Maksar brothers’ lawyer. Leave me alone already!”
Abela insisted he was not trying to kill journalists.
“Most of them are young and not at risk, but if I can put a few of them out of commission for a few weeks, my life would be so much easier. The other day I deliberately coughed right in Jacob Borg’s face, so fingers crossed.”
Abela had previously attempted to roll up into an armoured ball to try and dodge reporters’ questions.
