Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg has lovingly wrapped up a piece of tarmac, which he will give to his wife as a present on Christmas Day.
Borg obtained the chunk of tarmac from the ongoing roadworks in Kirkop.
“I was struggling to think of what to buy Rachelle for Christmas this year. Then Silvio suggested I get her a precious stone. I thought that was a brilliant idea, and what stone is more precious than the smooth, sexy, beautiful, majestic tarmac that coats our roads? I’m sure she’ll absolutely love it,” Borg told Bis-Serjetà.
“Having said that, I do suspect it’s going to be one of those gifts that I end up using more myself.”
Once wrapped, Borg placed the gift under his family’s concrete Christmas tree, decorated with one-way-sign baubles and topped with a traffic cone.
The minister then proceeded to wrap his young daughter’s present: a piece of wood from a centuries-old carob tree chopped down in Dingli by Infrastructure Malta last October.
