US designates Infrastructure Malta as terrorist organisation

Karl Stennienibarra

The United States has added Infrastructure Malta to its list of foreign terrorist organisations.

Infrastructure Malta, headed by Fredrick Azzopardi and sponsored by Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg, is responsible for projects that have involved the take-up of several square-kilometres of agricultural land, as well as the chopping down of hundreds of trees.

“In recent years, only ISIS has committed more acts of wanton destruction than Infrastructure Malta,” a spokesperson for the US State Department told Bis-Serjetà.

“We are concerned that when they run out of trees and farmland to obliterate in Malta, they will start committing acts of environmental terrorism in other countries too. So if anyone manages to apprehend either Azzopardi or Borg, we will reward them with $1 million.”

The spokesperson did not rule out military action against Infrastructure Malta.

“To be fair, if we carpet-bomb the island, it wouldn’t be much different to what IM’s bulldozers are doing anyway.”

Reacting to the news, Infrastructure Malta threatened to retaliate to the designation by travelling to California and chopping down its famous giant redwood trees.
