Bernard Grech hoping Chinese space debris lands on either Delia or Azzopardi, ‘preferably both.’

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech says he hopes part of a Chinese rocket that is hurtling towards Earth lands on squabbling MPs Adrian Delia and Jason Azzopardi, or ideally both.

The Long March 5B rocket made headlines in recent days when China announced a 30-metre-long piece of one of its modules – currently travelling at 28,000 km/h – had entered an uncontrolled orbit, meaning it could land anywhere from New York to New Zealand.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, the feud between the two Nationalist MPs escalated further today, after Adrian Delia took to Facebook to criticise Azzopardi, who recently won a libel case against Delia canvasser Ċensu L-Iswed.

“I’m between a rock and a hard place. I know the best solution is to kick one of them out of the party. If I kick Delia out, his rabble will go mental and lynch me, but if I try to oust Azzopardi, Simon and Beppe will probably kick me out instead. It’s a tough one,” Grech told Bis-Serjetà.

“Since I heard about this Chinese rocket, I’ve been praying that it slams into one of them. I don’t care who. In fact, I’d rather it splits in half and turns them both to dust.”

Grech was quick to dismiss the idea that relying on a hugely improbable event to solve his problems made him a weak leader.

“Everyone needs some cosmic intervention every now and then. I just hope running the country will be easier than having to deal with these two assholes.”
