The meteorological office at Malta International Airport has told the incoming thunderstorm to go back to its country.
Unseasonal gale force winds and thunderstorms are expected to hit Malta in the next 24 hours, and the Met. Office has taken the unusual step of directly addressing the inclement weather.
“We’re normally very tolerant and don’t try to interfere with weather patterns, but rain in the middle of July is just not on,” Met. Office chief Stephen Zarb said while standing on the roof of the airport.
“Who does this storm think it is, coming over here and stealing our sunshine?” asked his colleague Noel Cuschieri.
“Just because we’re yelling at the clouds to go back to their country doesn’t mean we’re stormist. Some of our favourite weather patterns are storms, but they should stay in the sea where they originated,” he added.
Zarb added that while liberal meteorologists wanted people to believe otherwise, cold fronts and warm fronts just did not mix well.
