Malta Budget 2020: Muscat pledges to reduce Red Electrick bills

Karl Stennienibarra

Joseph Muscat has pledged to reduce people’s Red Electrick bills in today’s budget.

The Prime Minister made the pledge while speaking at a Labour Party event in Zabbar yesterday.

“I think it’s time we acknowledged that Maltese families are paying too much for their generic pop rock,” Muscat told the crowd, adding that previous administrations had done nothing to ease this musical burden.

Muscat also noted that the cost of Red Electrick bills had not been adjusted to take into consideration Joe Roscoe replacing Matthew James Borg as frontman at the beginning of 2018.

While saying that more details would be given during the Budget Speech this evening, Muscat hinted that the government would subsidise tickets to Red Electrick’s annual concert and album launch.

There are also rumours that the government will announce the construction of a new offshore radio station to supply more Red Electrick at cheaper rates.
