The government has announced a five percent increase in buzzwords as part of the budgetary measures for the forthcoming year.
“As the title of the pre-budget document – Sustaining Inclusive Growth – suggests, this year we will be focusing on making sure more Maltese families are impressed by buzzwords and similar rhetorical phrases,” Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said during his budget speech.
Scicluna added that particular emphasis would be given to environmental buzzwords.
“In recent years we gave priority to such buzzwords as ‘surplus’, ‘cryptocurrency’ and ‘Blockchain’, but this year’s priority will be a five-percent rise in clean, eco-friendly, electric, non-single-use, medical cannabis buzzwords.”
The Finance Minister added that the use of buzzwords by the public would be incentivised using an app, which would give users tax credits every time it heard them using a buzzword.
