I didn’t sign up for this shit, says Tumas Group PR assistant who’s only been there a week

A woman who started a new job as a public relations assistant at Tumas Group last week says she did not sign up for this shit.

Tumas Group director Yorgen Fenech was arrested by police yesterday in connection with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

“I was really looking forward to the job. I thought I’d be writing press releases and marketing copy about fantastic Christmas break offers,” said Laura Falzon, who works at the Hilton Malta Resort in St Julians, one of several companies owned by the group.

“Now I have to send emails to all the newsrooms saying ‘Heyyyyyyy could you take a short break from writing stories about my possibly murderous boss and have a look at this ad campaign we’ll be running over the holidays? Thaaanks.’

“Fuck that, this shit is way above my pay grade.”

Ms Falzon added that she now had a lot more sympathy for the communications officers of authoritarian regimes whose leaders were in the process of being toppled.

“Remember Saddam Hussein’s press secretary appearing on TV during the Iraq War in 2003 saying everything was fine while American tanks were rolling through the streets? That’s how I feel right now.”

Meanwhile, other Tumas Group employees told Bis-Serjetà that this year’s staff Christmas parties would be “awkward as fuck.”
