Ian Borg inaugurates filled-in pothole

Ian Borg has inaugurated a recently filled-in pothole in an official ceremony that took place this morning.

The former pothole is located on the road between Mosta and the Rabat/Mgarr roundabout.

The infrastructure minister has had a busy end to the year. Yesterday he inaugurated a newly refurbished central strip in Żebbug.

Aside from Mr Borg, the ceremony was attended by the head of Infrastructure Malta, the mayor of Mosta, and several other government officials. As with the opening of the first Marsa flyover, classic car enthusiasts were invited to drive over the filled-in pothole.

“This is a momentous occasion for Mosta and its people, possibly the biggest moment in the town’s long history”, Borg said, adding that the patching of the hole was yet more proof that the government did not hesitate to take on big projects.

The project is estimated to have cost around €1 million, after a tender was won by developer Joseph Portelli.

Borg also thanked the workers who had repaired the pothole.

“Today, 15 minutes of hard work finally came to fruition.”

Asked about the other pothole 20 metres or so down the road, Borg said that, while he was committed to #GettingThingsDone, he could not work miracles.

“PN never fixed a pothole in 25 years. Sometimes entire cars would fall into them and be incinerated in the earth’s core.

The minister added that he was hoping to get five more inaugurations of minor works in before the end of 2019.

“This evening I’m attending the opening of a new street light in Dingli,” he said.
