Maltese mum insists on wearing five layers despite it being 18 degrees outside

A Maltese mum insisted on wearing five layers of clothing to go out today despite the temperature being 18 degrees Celsius.

Sharon Bonello, 55, from Mosta, was preparing to go shopping at LIDL this afternoon when she put on the five layers of clothing, which consisted of a top, a jumper, a cardigan, a jacket and a coat.

“It looks sunny outside but it’s actually really windy,” Bonello said, despite not having been outside, and the wind being only slightly blustery and not that cold.

The mum of two balked at the idea of wearing fewer layers, and possibly even short sleeves, to be better prepared for the unseasonably warm weather.

“A t-shirt? In February? Are you mad? I’ll catch my death of pneumonia!” she said, adding that she had insisted her sons also wrap up warm when they left for work this morning.

At the time of writing this evening, when the temperature had gone down and she was indoors, Bonello had just turned on one bar of the gas heater despite the fact it didn’t make any difference to the temperature of her living room.
