Members of Malta’s cabinet are reportedly split over whether Carole Baskin – a protagonist in the hit Netflix documentary Tiger King – is a bitch.
Tiger King centres around the life of Joe Exotic, an eccentric tiger collector in Oklahoma, and his bitter feud with Baskin, who runs the Big Cat Rescue sanctuary and accuses Exotic of mistreating his tigers and using them for profit.
“While there is broad agreement among ministers that Carole killed her first husband Don – with only a handful believing he ran away to Costa Rica – there are two issues which are threatening to tear the cabinet apart,” a government source told Bis-Serjetà.
“The first is whether she was justified in killing him. On one hand you have people like Evarist Bartolo and Edward Scicluna, who think that Carol is a nasty piece of work who was just after his money. Then on the other you’ve got Rosianne Cutajar and others who think Don had it coming because he was a serial cheater and was going to divorce Carole and leave her with nothing.
“The second issue is whether Carole is any better than people like Joe Exotic and Doc Antle. Probably Joe’s biggest supporter in the cabinet is [Gozo Minister and hunter] Clint Camilleri. He thinks Joe has every right to keep, breed and sell the tigers, and that Carole is a massive hypocritical bitch because she makes money from her animals too.”
The source added that the show has inspired Camilleri to open his own zoo. He has even discussed the possibility of turning the whole of Gozo into a park called ‘Tiger Island’.
“Meanwhile, Chris Fearne and Aaron Farrugia think that Carole’s efforts to ban the private ownership of big cats prove that her intentions in that respect are good, even if she is a psychobitch and probably a murderer.
According to the source, Prime Minister Robert Abela is yet to take a firm stance on the show’s contentious subjects.
“As usual, Abela is swayed by the last person he speaks to. So one minute he thinks Joe deserves to be in prison for plotting to kill Carole, then the next minute Silvio Schembri has convinced him Carole hired the hitman herself so she could frame Joe for it, and he’s signing all his emails with ‘Free Joe Exotic’.
“Personally I think they should all just turn off this bonkers reality TV nonsense and go back to watching Money Heist.”
