The battle between Labour and the Nationalist Party is a bigger priority than Covid-19, the World Health Organisation has said.
The past few days have seen an escalation in bickering between the Government and the Opposition, with both sides accusing each other of using the pandemic to score political points.
Now the WHO has confirmed that this bitter feud has overtaken the coronavirus as the world’s main concern.
“Thousands of people may be dying every day, but this means nothing compared to the battle for supremacy between two political parties on a tiny island nation,” a WHO spokesperson said, adding that the entire world should switch its attention to what was going on in Malta.
“We advice every country to stop trying to end the pandemic and instead put their support behind either one of Labour or PN. In one corner, you have inept dick-swinging fascist-enabler Robert Abela and his North Korean-style party media. And in the other, you have inept, incompetent charlatan Adrian Delia and his broken party. Take your pick.”
Malta’s political parties praised the WHO’s declaration.
“We’re delighted the world has finally woken up to the fact that absolutely everything must be viewed through the lens of PL vs PN. I also can’t help but note that this never happened under a Nationalist government,” Prime Minister Robert Abela said.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has reinstated his country’s funding for the organisation.
“This is the kind of thing the WHO should be doing. Personally I don’t know who to root for. I like Robert Abela’s strong and tough anti-immigration stance but PN have a history of mistreating immigrants too. Too hard to choose!” he wrote on Twitter.
