A Maltese man has begun his third straight week of thinking about starting exercising next week.
Andrew Calleja, 32, says the Covid-19 pandemic has inspired him to start leading a more ponderous lifestyle.
“Before the coronavirus hit, I didn’t use to think about exercising at all. Then when all the gyms closed down, that made me think: “If only the gyms had remained open. I definitely would’ve started working out next week. I realised how much better I felt after a few seconds of thinking, and since then I haven’t looked back,” he said.
Calleja says he started thinking about exercising next week for just two minutes every day, before gradually incorporating more rigorous musings into his routine.
“Nowadays I start with a five-minute warm-up, during which I think about thinking about exercising, just to get my mind limbered up. Then I do 15 minutes of high-intensity interval training, where I alternate between 30-second-long sets of thinking, contemplating, considering and deliberating.
“The great thing about thinking about exercising is that you can do it anywhere, and you don’t have to change any other aspect of your lifestyle, like your eating habits.”
Calleja also says he is considering starting an online class for people who want to start thinking about exercising next week, next week.
“You’re probably thinking, ‘How the heck does this guy find the time for more thinking about starting stuff next week?’ Well, if you have that thought a few times a week, you’ll be as proficient as I am in no time”, he said.
