President wakes up to find rebel PN MPs surrounding his bed

President George Vella woke up this morning to find the 19 anti-Delia PN MPs surrounding his bed.

The MPs had been waiting for the President to confirm their vote of no confidence in Delia and remove him as Opposition leader.

Staff at the President’s San Anton Palace residence were startled at 6:30 this morning when they heard screams coming from the President’s bedroom.

“I burst into his room half-expecting to find him dead, but it was just Jason Azzopardi and the rest of them standing around his bed, taking it in turns to ask if he’d decided yet,” one palace employee told Bis-Serjetà.

“Then Marlene and Godfrey Farrugia climbed in through the open window and said he really should have decided by now, followed by Adrian Delia himself, who told the President to take his time and not make any extreme decisions.”

The crowd around Vella’s bed increased even further, as Prime Minister Robert Abela also entered the room and embarked on a 30-minute speech about how proud he was that Labour had let Vella enjoy his sleep even during the political crisis. Now-independent MP Konrad Mizzi then stuck his head above the window sill to say he agreed with everything the Prime Minister said.

“In the end Miriam [the President’s wife] told everyone to piss off, and threw George’s eyebrow comb across the room. It hit Stephen Spiteri, who then jumped out the window claiming he didn’t even want to be there in the first place, the employee said.
