Events can still stack people on top of each other, Chris Fearne clarifies

Health Minister Chris Fearne has confirmed that people could still be stacked vertically on top of each other at mass events under the new Covid-19 regulations.

In a press conference yesterday, Fearne announced that events with other 100 attendees would be limited to one person per four metres of venue space, in groups of no more than 10.

However, in a subsequent post on his Facebook page this morning, the health minister clarified that the new rules only apply to horizontal space.

“If event organisers want to stack people vertically, for example in a human tower, they are free to do so,” Fearne wrote.

“The only two provisos are that they aren’t stacked mouth to mouth, and of course that there are no fans overhead.” he added.

The minister also wrote that he was confident there would be no further misunderstandings or complaints about perceived ambiguities.

“I’m sure everyone will now be satisfied and no one will question the government.”
