Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia has admitted he doesn’t know what the European Parliament elections are actually for.
Dr Delia was speaking during the launch of the PN’s campaign for the upcoming EP and local council elections.
“The first step on the path to unseat Labour is for us to do well in the European Parliament elections. By the way, does anyone know what those are for, exactly? It’d really help if I knew why we were taking part.
“Like, what’s the point of them? What does an MEP do? Roberta, David – you’ve been to Brussels loads of times. Surely you can tell me.”
Metsola and Casa, who were sat on the front row, reacted by looking down at their phones.
“Fine, be that way. No wonder Labour say you’re damaging the country.” Delia yelled.
At this point, PN secretary general Clyde Puli clambered onto the podium, kissed Delia’s feet and said, “Master! Beloved master! I can tell you!”
“Shut up and go make me more billboards, pathetic worm,” Dr Delia ordered.
Turning to the local council elections, which will also take place next month, the Opposition leader said he knew what those were for.
“Local council elections are easy. Those are for…erm…electing a local council, obviously. And the person with the most votes becomes a mayor, which is like being president of a football club, isn’t it? But the only difference is you can’t kidnap one of your own councillors and lock them in a garage. Not that I’ve ever done anything like that, of course.”
