All of Malta currently relying on one small generator

Karl Stennienibarra

All of Malta’s electrical power is currently coming from a single small emergency generator, Enemalta have confirmed.

The 3kW gasoline-powered Honda EL36000CX generator is the only energy source owned by Enemalta that is still operational, following damage to the interconnector, together with problems at the Delimara power station.

“This sputtering little thing is all we have left. It it fails, Malta will be plunged into darkness until at least next spring,” a spokesman for the state energy company said.

Asked about the LNG tanker at Delimara, the spokesman replied:

“That thing? That’s purely ornamental. Always has been. LNG stands for ‘Lol, no gas’.

Meanwhile, the price of candles has risen to 50 euro each.
