Neville Gafà has recounted his experience in court earlier today to Keith Schembri while crying into his lap, complaining that Jason Azzopardi yelled at him.
Gafà appeared in court this afternoon to testify in the public inquiry into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. At one point, lawyer Jason Azzopardi told Gafà to tell the truth.
After the sitting had ended, the former OPM staffer drove straight to Schembri’s villa in Mellieħa, where the former OPM chief of staff was waiting for him with cookies and warm milk.
“Jason was so mean to me. He kept asking me lots of questions, and he even yelled at me,” a sobbing Gafà told Schembri while lying in his lap.
“Why did Daphne have to write so many nasty things about me? It’s not like I did anything to deserve it,” he added in between sniffles.
“There there, Nevikins, it’s OK. I’ve got you now,” replied Schembri while gently stroking Gafà’s bald head.
Schembri further consoled Gafà by telling him it was only the justice system and that it couldn’t hurt them.
“Now then young man, I think it’s time for bed. I prepared the spare bedroom for you, and don’t forget to say your prayers to Allah before you go to sleep.”
At the time of writing, Gafà was insisting that Schembri read him his favourite bedtime story: The Marvelous Mister Muscat.
