Ben Camille transforms into Ben Camel to terrorise people on Halloween

Ben Camille has transformed into a hideous half-man, half-dromedary creature known as Ben Camel, just in time for Halloween.

The X Factor host/werecamel was spotted prowling the narrow streets of Imdina late last night.

“I was walking with my boyfriend near Fontanella, when we turned a corner and came face to face with this terrifying monstrosity,” said Lindsey Caruana.

“His head looked like that of a camel and he had a hump on his back, but I recognised it was Ben Camille from the fact he was shirtless, and of course that ‘BEN’ tattoo right above his crotch.

Ms Caruana said that, while appearing scary, Ben Camel did not behave in a threatening way.

“He spat and us and made loud camel noises, but other than that he just stood there and didn’t do much of anything. It was almost like he was there for nothing, really.

“Eventually he beckoned us to take a selfie with him and then let us continue on our way.”

Ben Camel has also been spotted in other spooky spots around Malta, such as the Sans Souci house in Marsaxlokk, Verdala Palace, and Ray Mercieca’s hats-and-sunglasses closet.

It is not known what causes Camille to transform into his camelid alter -ego.

“My theory is that Ben’s mother, stylist and sorceress Carina Camilleri, makes him drink a potion so that he can carry more of her clothes on his back while out shopping,” folklorist Paul Debono told Bis-Serjetà.

“She could also be harvesting his fur to make coats,” Debono speculated.
