Bernard Grech is struggling to remove a red arrow that was spray-painted onto his forehead.
The arrow is just one of many markings that were sprayed onto various roads, walls and rocks across northern Malta and Gozo by a French trekking company.
“I was walking in Majjistral Park when this group of French people approached me. I smiled at them and said ‘bonjour’ but they didn’t seem to acknowledge me. Then one of them got out a spray can and drew this arrow,” Galea said, pointing to his head.
“I’ve been washing and scrubbing it for days but it just won’t come off. The annoying thing is that now wherever I go, there’s always a bunch of French hikers following me around. The other day when I was on Xtra, Saviour Balzan had to shoo them away with a broom.”
NED, the French company responsible for the graffiti, defended its actions.
“We didn’t realise he was a person. He didn’t really stand out from the environment. We thought he was just another rock or telephone pole.
Current Opposition leader Adrian Delia said the red arrow was proof of who the real Labour plant was.
