A fine of €20,000 will be imposed on anyone who tries to start a chain post on Facebook, Professor Charmaine Gauci has declared.
The Superintendant for Public Health announced the introduction of the fine during her daily press conference.
“I swear to God if I see one more fucking Facebook post saying ‘Use the letter B to describe me in one word. Like this post and I’ll give you a letter too!’, I am going to cut a bitch,” the normally calm Prof. Gauci told journalists.
“I know 2020 is a massive pile of horseshit so far, but that doesn’t mean we should go back to 2002. And trust me, Karen, the only word I want to describe you with starts with the letter C,” she added while looking straight into the camera.
“Here I am trying to keep the press up to date on Covid-19 so they can then inform the public, and then these morons come along and clutter up Facebook with this crap. Well, from now on anyone who takes part in this inane bullshit gets slapped with a €20,000 fine.
Prof Gauci then went on to list other types of chain posts that would result in a fine.
“That one where you answer a bunch of dumb questions about yourself; the ‘never have I ever’ type ones, and the ‘foods I like and dislike’ ones. Seriously, no one gives a shit if you hate coriander.”
The Superintendent said the only exception would be the ‘share a song’ chain post.
“As long as it’s metal. I love me some Slipknot,” she said.
