Every single adult in Malta is currently contemplating how to get blind-drunk on the government’s 80-euro voucher, Bis-Serjetà has learned.
In a study conducted by Bis-Serjetà in collaboration with the American University of Malta, results showed that 100 per cent of the 800 respondents surveyed said they planned on using their vouchers on alcohol.
“While several people have talked about going out for a nice meal with their families, or even donating their vouchers to less fortunate people, everyone in the study confessed that they actually planned on getting completely wasted,” said the AUM’s Professor Imona Jetski.
The respondents did however differ in how they intended to pursue their alcoholism.
“For example, 60 per cent said they would spread the four 20-euro vouchers out across multiple days, while the remaining 40 per cent said they would splurge it all in one epic mega-binge.
“Furthermore, most respondents said they would opt for affordable places like The Pub in Valletta, where 80 euro’s worth of beer and shots is guaranteed to get you completely sozzled, while the rest said they planned on going to more upmarket establishments and necking a few strong cocktails.”
Prof. Jetski. said the survey results corresponded with findings from larger studies done by more renowned research institutions.
The evidence is very clear on this: if civilisation is on the verge of collapse, you may as well get totally shit-faced to prepare for it,” she said.
