Legendary Maltese singer Freddie Portelli has been sent to America to sing his hit song ‘Mur Ħallini’ to Donald Trump, in a last-ditch attempt to persuade the President to concede defeat to Joe Biden.
The request for the 76-year-old rock ‘n roller’s services was made by Biden’s transition team via the American embassy in Malta.
“Short of bashing down the door to the Oval Office and dragging Trump out by his ankles, we had pretty much run out of ideas. Then two days ago Pete Buttigieg came running into the office. He said his dad knew of a song that would be sure to make Trump leave,” said Biden’s chief of staff Ron Klain.
Portelli and his band were flown to Washington DC this morning, where they will play the song tomorrow night through a massive sound system directly facing the White House.
“While Trump won’t be able to understand the lyrics, we hope the ‘fuck off’ spirit of the song gets through to him,” Klain said.
The chief of staff added that his team’s Plan B was to play the Maltese national anthem on full blast.
“If that horrid dirge doesn’t get Trump out, nothing will.”
