Glenn Bedingfield put in charge of Castille fridge

Glenn Bedingfield has been appointed as Guardian of the Castille Fridge.

The Castille fridge is a large communal fridge in which OPM employees put their packed lunches when they come in to work.

As part of the role, Bedingfield will be responsible for fridge upkeep, restocking the fridge with essential items like milk, as well as making sure employees don’t take each other’s lunches, intentionally or otherwise.

“I am honoured that I have been given this role by Robert Abela, and promise to carry out my duties in a fair and transparent manner. If someone brings a delicious treat to work, they can rest assured that, when lunchtime arrives, it will still be there, whole and unspoiled,” the MP said.

Bedingfield added he would be implementing a rigorous labelling system to prevent any lunch abuse.

The position of fridge guardian comes with a lucrative salary of €50,000 a year, as well as a chauffeur-driven car and health insurance.

Bedingfield dismissed suggestions that his appointment represented a conflict of interest.

“Are you saying that just because I’m carrying a couple of extra kilos I shouldn’t be in charge of watching over other people’s food? Next you’ll tell me it’s ludicrous that a minister who’s a hunter has been put in charge of regulating hunting.”
