A man has lied to his friend that a gluten-free, egg-free and dairy-free cake she made is delicious.
The man’s friend brought the chocolate cake to a Christmas party they both attended.
“We have one person in our group who’s coeliac, another who’s lactose intolerant, and another who’s vegan, so I get that she was trying to be inclusive,” said the man, who preferred to remain anonymous.
“And don’t get me wrong, the cake definitely tasted vaguely of chocolate, but chocolate-flavoured sand is still sand.
The man said that despite the cake not being to his liking, he could not bring himself to tell her the truth.
“Everyone else was praising her for how delicious it was, so I couldn’t exactly tell her it felt like biting into an Egyptian mummy.
“I need to find what recipe she uses so that next time we have a party I’ll tell her I’m allergic to whatever she puts in it. My tastebuds can only take so much,” he said.
