Government to trial Ian-Borg-free days

Karl Stennieniġewwa

The government has announced it will begin trialling Ian-Borg-free days in the coming weeks, after noticing a positive response by the public to a reduction in Ian Borg during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic, the infrastructure minister was a ubiquitous presence on social media, sometimes holding multiple press conferences in a single day.

And while the pandemic has not put a complete stop to his self-promotion, Borg has been largely limited to the occasional sponsored post and video on Facebook.

“We observed that people seemed to be a lot happier with less Ian Borg in their lives. And when he did post, such as the ħobża photo, people got very angry and upset,” a government spokesperson told Bis-Serjetà.

“So, starting soon on certain days of the week, we’re launching a scheme called #NotGettingsThingsDone, whereby Ian Borg will be barred from physically leaving his house to coordinate the destruction of more farmland.

“Furthermore, he won’t be allowed to post anything online, whether it’s a video of a newly resurfaced road or a photo of his daughter.”

Members of the public praised the government’s initiative.

“Every time I see Ian Borg’s stupid smug face and his stupid emoji-filled Facebook posts, it makes me want to set fire to an excavator. Having Ian-Borg-free days will certainly help to keep my pyromania in check,” one man said.
