Ian Borg applies to build swimming pool on roof of Notre Dame

Transport minister Ian Borg is seeking permission to build a swimming pool on the burned out roof of Notre Dame cathedral.

As Dr Borg’s plans for a swimming pool on ODZ land near Rabat hit another snag today, the minister believes he has found the ideal alternative.

“Just like millions of other people around the world, I was horrified to watch Notre Dame go up in flames,” Dr Borg wrote on Facebook.

“But instead of being sad, we should look to the future and rebuild as soon as possible. That’s why I am now seeking permission from the authorities in Paris to build an infinity pool and outdoor dining area where the cathedral’s roof used to be.

“A swimming pool adds immense value to any historical site. How many other 800-year-old Gothic cathedrals have private leisure facilities where you – and by ‘you’, I mean ‘I’ – can enjoy breathtaking rooftop views of Paris? And it isn’t rural land, which everyone seems to be really precious about for some reason.

“I really want my fucking swimming pool,” he concluded.

Several of Dr Borg’s colleagues welcomed his application. Energy minister Joe Mizzi is said to have already put himself forward to be a gargoyle, while economy minister Chris Cardona has suggested adding sauna facilities as well.
