An isolated incident has happened again.

The incident, a fatal building collapse that occurred in Bormla this morning, follows a similar isolated incident that happened four months ago, and several others that happened last year.

The collapse caused the death of yet another migrant construction worker, which was also described as an isolated incident.

“While expressing my deepest condolences to the family of the worker who died, I want to emphasise that, just like all previous construction incidents, this is an isolated incident, and should not be seen as being part of a trend,” Malta Developers Association president Sandro Chetcuti told Bis-Serjetà.

Chetcuti’s comment was echoed by the government’s planning consultant, Robert Musumeci.

“There’s nothing we could have done to prevent this isolated incident from happening. If a building wants to collapse, it will collapse regardless of any safeguards you try and implement. That’s just how physics works,” he said.

Meanwhile, police are struggling to identify the man who died in today’s isolated incident.

“Erm, well, I can’t remember his name. But he was black, if that helps,” the site’s contractor said.
