Jason Micallef-watchers have been treated to the ONE TV chairman’s annual display of incredible stupidity.

This year, Micallef’s display – also known as a jasonation – occurred during his appearance on Andrew Azzopardi’s radio show on RTK, in which he played down death threats received by activist Robert Aquilina, then immediately after proceeded to report a woman for allegedly threatening him on Facebook. He also ridiculed the idea of an actor being appointed president.

For the hundreds of people with a keen interest in Jason Micallef’s stupidity, his display was a sight to behold.

Long-time Jason Micallef-watcher Rachel Caruana said that while Jason Micallef was stupid all year round, each year there was always one incident that was particularly impressive in its ignorance.

“Last year, for example, he said Mary Spiteri’s song ‘Tema 79’ should be Malta’s national anthem. Then there was that time he got into an argument with Fr David Muscat and threatened to confront him at Speranza chapel in Mosta with a group of supporters, but then only he turned up. And of course, there are those ugly flower boxes he put in Parliament Square,” she said.

Caruana said she was hoping that the fact that Micallef’s display occurred so early in the year meant that he would say or do more stupid things in 2024.

“Maybe we’ll even see him perform a mating display for Joseph Muscat,” she mused.

However, renowned Jasonologist Professor Imona Jetski, from the American University of Malta, warned the early display might not be good news.

“Jason needs time to recharge his stupidity, and he usually says dumb shit around springtime. The unusual weather we’re seeing could be negatively impacting his idiocy patterns, meaning that his behaviour will become more unpredictable. Eventually, he might even cease to say stupid things in public entirely and go back to being a gardener, which I don’t think anyone wants,” Prof. Jetski said.
