Johann Grech has removed Ridley Scott from a WhatsApp group chat he shares with Russell Crowe, David Walliams and other film celebrities, after the British actor shared a negative opinion about Malta.
In an interview with fellow director Christopher Nolan, the Gladiator 2 director said that while Malta had an impressive architectural heritage, he would not recommend the country as a holiday destination. The comment sparked a furious reaction from many Maltese people, as Scott had benefited from a €47 million government grant while filming Gladiator 2.
