Joseph Muscat becomes brand ambassador of Coronavirus in Malta

Karl Stennienibarra

Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has become the face of the Wuhan Coronavirus in Malta.

The virus, also know as 2019-nCoV, is a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA coronavirus that is spreading through China and slowly making its way to other countries.

The virus has not arrived in Malta yet. When it does, Muscat will have exclusive rights to be the first to spread it to other people on the island.

“A lot has been said in the media about my plans in the areas of civil liberties and sports. But another aspiration I have is to become Malta’s biggest influencer, and what better way to do that than to spread something world-famous that has influenza-like symptoms?” Muscat told Bis-Serjetà.

When the first person who shows symptoms of the virus arrives in Malta – most likely through the airport – Muscat will be summoned, and the infected person will be required to cough in his face.

The ex-PM will then be contractually required to spread the virus at all events he attends. The first of these will be another tour around the island, during which he will spray his mucus all over crowds of willing Labour supporters.

Meanwhile, in a move to consolidate her place as Malta’s biggest influencer and ward off competition from Muscat, Sarah Zerafa has announced she is the new Maltese brand ambassador for Ebola.
