Keith Schembri, Konrad Mizzi rent flat together next to Financial Crime HQ

Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi have rented a flat together next to the police’s Financial Crime Investigation Department offices.

The pair moved into the two-bedroom flat in Santa Venera this morning, after police once again hauled Mizzi in for questioning yesterday. Meanwhile, Schembri is set to face another round of interrogation later today, as part of an investigation into suspicious WhatsApp chats the pair shared with Yorgen Fenech.

“It’s not very big, but since we’re here practically every week, it’s just so much more convenient. If police call us over for a friendly chat, we can basically fall out of bed and into their offices,” Mizzi told Bis-Serjetà while unpacking.

“A lot of people say it’s a bad idea to move in with friends, but I’m sure we won’t get on each other’s nerves at all, even if I am a bit miffed that Konrad nabbed the en suite without discussing it first,” chimed in Schembri, who was busy rehearsing for today’s interrogation.

Indeed, the two former members of Joseph Muscat’s government swiftly settled a dispute over the housework roster.

“We’ve agreed that when one of us is being interrogated, the other does the cleaning. Frankly, I’d rather do a double interrogation because they’re much less strenuous than washing the floors,” Mizzi said.

At the time of writing, the pair were planning a flat-warming party, with Schembri printing out invitations to give to members of the financial crime unit.
