Keith Schembri has posted a job ad seeking someone to keep track of all the lies he tells.
Schembri – the former chief of staff to disgraced ex-prime minister Joseph Muscat – is the subject of a number of police investigations related to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia and the corrupt dealings she exposed. On several occasions, he has appeared to contradict himself – as well as Muscat and Konrad Mizzi – while testifying in court.
The ad, which appeared this morning on various online recruitment websites and newspaper classified sections, states that the ideal candidate is discreet, highly organised, and possesses keen research and documentation skills.
“I’m involved in so many court cases that it’s becoming impossible to keep track of everything I say, and while I’ve got away with perjury so far, I probably shouldn’t take the mickey anymore. So hopefully my new assistant will be able to help me stay on the ball by going through everything my former colleagues and I have ever said to make sure it’s all consistent from now on,” Schembri told Bis-Serjetà.
Schembri added that, due to his bank accounts being frozen, he would be unable to offer monetary remuneration for the assistant’s services.
“I can, however, offer the successful candidate 500 packets of Rummo pasta per month. Any shape of their choice.”
At the time of writing, Schembri had just released a statement denying that he had ever posted such an ad.
