Maltese man who wished immigrants had been burned alive goes to church

A man who openly wished that immigrants had been burned alive in last week’s fire at the Marsa open centre has attended holy mass.

Local racist Clint Zahra, 30, attended mass this morning at the St Helen parish church in his hometown of Birkirkara.

“A lot of people my age have stopped going to church, but I think it’s important to maintain a connection with God, you know?” said Zahra, who on Wednesday wrote ‘Kemm nixtieq li dawk il-qatta zibel inharqu hajjin’ under an article about the Marsa fire.

“When I attend mass every Sunday, I always come out feeling imbued with the love that Christ preached about so often in his sermons,” he added, making no mention of previous comments he had made online urging Malta’s armed forces to sink migrants’ boats at sea and leave them to drown, or the various ‘haha’ reactions he has left on Facebook posts about the actual deaths of migrants.

Speaking about the election of Robert Abela as prime minister last night. Zahra said:

“I hope that whatever direction Abela takes, he always keeps in mind that Malta is a Catholic country, and that needs to respect the beliefs of Christians like me.

“And also that he kicks out all the niggers.”
