A Maltese woman has started a gruelling challenge to be relaxed for 24 hours.
Joanna Zammit, 38, from Qormi, started the daring attempt to be completely stress-free for an entire day – throughout which her heart rate will be monitored – early this morning.
“I’ve done several marathons and triathlons, but this will definitely be the hardest challenge I’ve ever tried to complete”, said Zammit, adding that she has been training for a year with daily two-hour-long meditation sessions.
“The first part of the challenge is actually one of the hardest. If I can drive to my workplace without swearing at any other motorists, that will put me in a great position to be calm for the rest of the day.”
Other hurdles in Zammit’s path include not getting annoyed by her work colleagues, reading the news, getting into Facebook arguments with morons, looking after her young children and getting a good night’s sleep.
“The fact Joanna is doing this at the height of summer makes it even more impressive if she manages. We all know what a bit of heat can do to the local temperament,” said Zammit’s trainer, Kevin Portelli.
“Having said that, I would love to see an expat like Cami Appelgren attempt the ‘Be as angry as a Maltese person for 24 hours’ challenge,” he added.
