Nas Daily will be the next President of Malta

Popular video blogger Nas Daily will be the 10th President of Malta, and not George Vella as has been reported elsewhere in the satirical Maltese media.

Nas, who visited Malta last year, had said in a video three months ago that he wanted to get into politics, but not for another 10 years.

However, after receiving a call from Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, he decided to fast-track his plans.

“I AM SOOOO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT I WILL BE THE 10TH PRESIDENT OF…” Nas yelled in one of his trademark videos, before the camera zoomed out to reveal a crowd in Valletta who shrieked, “MALTA!”

The blogger said he couldn’t wait to start solving all of Malta’s problems with a series of one-minute-long inspirational videos.

“THE FIRST THING I WILL DO IN MY PRESIDENCY IS TO HEAL THE RIFT BETWEEN LABOUR AND THE NATIONALIST PARTY, WHICH IS VERY BAD,” he shouted.

Nas said he would accomplish this by encouraging the two parties to join together, removing the need for bickering and elections.

“BECAUSE WHY FIGHT WHEN YOU CAN UNITE AS ONE PARTY? THAT’S ONE MINUTE,” he concluded.

Speaking to Bis-Serjetà, the Prime Minister said he nominated Nas for the largely ceremonial role because of his ability to bring large numbers of people together.

“It’s time to get rid of the old ways of doing politics and put in charge those who have the largest number of followers on Facebook,” he said.

“I mean, George Vella only has 2,000, which is pretty shit.”
