Pineapple does not belong on pizza, says Therese Comodini Cachia

Opposition leader-in-waiting Therese Comodini Cachia has declared she is against pineapple on pizza.

This is Comodini Cachia’s second pronouncement of the day, following an earlier Facebook post in which she said she was “not in favour of abortion.”

As with her earlier post, it is not clear why she felt the need to say she was anti pineapple on pizza. Nor did she elaborate on why she felt the way she did.

“Abortion and pineapple-on-pizza are two of the most controversial topics in Malta, so I think she wants to move early to assuage the fears of PN’s traditionalist, pro-life, anti-Hawaiian pizza faction as soon as possible,” columnist James Debono told Bis-Serjetà.

“On the flip side, this has somewhat annoyed those who believe in a person’s right to choose whether to terminate their pregnancy and eat whatever pizza they want, not necessarily at the same time. It’s a fine line she’s treading here. She may have been better off writing that she doesn’t think that grapes belong on pizza, as there is more consensus in that regard.”

Following her meeting with President George Vella earlier this afternoon, Comodini Cachia is reportedly busy writing her views on controversial video game The Last Of Us: Part 2.
