The Nationalist Party is suffering from ‘Long Delia’ syndrome, according to doctors.
‘Long Delia’ occurs when a political party is still suffering the symptoms of having Adrian Delia as leader months after ousting him.
“Unfortunately the PN has not been able to shake Delia off completely, as happens in the majority of cases. This has led to prolonged, debilitating symptoms include having a disunited party, undermining the current leader and being unelectable. Basically, the immune system of a party has to fight itself,” said Dr Philip Bonnici, a specialist in political party health.
One of the most serious side effects of Long Delia is known as Ċensu L-Iswed, a condition that attracts shady, unsavoury people to a party.
Dr Bonnici was less than hopeful about potential cures to Long Delia.
“We could attempt to perform a last-ditch Delia-ectomy, thereby completely removing him, but that might split the party in two. Then again, maybe it would be for the best,” he said.
Meanwhile, scientists have been unable to ascertain whether the initial outbreak of Delia occurred naturally, or whether it was deliberately created in and leaked from Mile End.
