Prime Minister Robert Abela has rolled himself into an armoured ball, after journalists asked him questions about Joseph Muscat.
Abela was attending the opening of the first completed part of the Central Link project in Attard, when journalists asked him whether Muscat’s position as an MP was still tenable, following the arrest of his ex-chief of staff Keith Schembri earlier this week.
“That’s not a question about Central Link. Goodbye,” Abela said, before swiftly curling himself into a hard outer shell.
All further attempts to communicate with Abela proved futile, with the Prime Minister refusing to emerge from his fortified carapace.
The Abeladillo was then rolled off the road and into a waiting car by Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg.
Abela is not the only Maltese politician with in-built defence mechanisms. Konrad Mizzi, who was also forced to resign last year, was known to swell up and secrete a poisonous substance from his skin when faced with uncomfortable questions.
