‘Sort your own shit out,’ Standards Commissioner tells Abela

Karl Stennienibarra

George Hyzler, the Commissioner For Standards In Public Life, has told Robert Abela to “sort his own shit out”.

Hyzler made the comment after Abela said he would wait for the verdict of Hyzler’s investigation into dealings between Rosianne Cutajar and Yorgen Fenech before deciding whether to fire the junior minister.

“I know I’m standards commissioner, but that doesn’t mean you can all just dump all your shit on my doorstep. Every morning I wake up to a new email from Arnold Cassola asking me to investigate such-and-such politician, and I’m like bro, aren’t there any other ways for you to stay relevant?” Hyzler told Bis-Serjetà.

“As for Abela – if you’re going to throw someone under the bus, at least have the balls to push her yourself. Sort your own shit out, you sneaky backstabber,” he added.

“I mean what do people expect my verdict will be? ‘Yeah it’s totally hunky-dory for MPs to receive big bags o’cash in return for helping homicidal millionaires get a cut-price property deal. All politicians should do it.'”

Hyzler said that he was considering renaming his full job title to ‘Standards commissioner on a no-standards island’.

“I’ve also come up with a catchphrase I’ll say whenever I deliver a negative verdict on someone: ‘You just got Hyzzled, son!'”
