Malta’s village idiots have distanced themselves from Labour MP Jean Claude Micallef.
Micallef was back in the news today, after stating in parliament yesterday that journalists should require a warrant.
Only last month, he had caused outrage by suggesting Maltese women who travel abroad to have abortions should be prosecuted on their return to Malta.
“The Malta Association of Village Idiots would like it on record that Jean Claude Micallef is not a member of our organisation,” said MAVI chairman Leli t-Tronġa, an idiot from Dingli.
The MAVI represents idiots from small localities across Malta and Gozo, and is one of the country’s oldest unions.
“While our members are known to hang around village squares spouting the stupidest ‘facts’ and wildest conspiracy theories their tiny brains can think of, they aren’t stupid enough to deny women’s bodily autonomy and suggest the press should be regulated by the government,” chimed in Ġamri l-Piżellu, MAVI’s Qrendi-based treasurer.
“That’s right – unlike parliament, there are limits on our members’ idiocy,” it-Tronġa agreed.
