Wholesome Christian teens begin queueing for Isle of RTK

Teens excited to see their favourite Christian bands have started to queue to get into the Isle of RTK concert in Imdina.

As many as 40 young Christians are expected to attend the festival in St Paul’s Square – organised every year by the Maltese church’s radio station, RTK – as an alternative to the more mainstream Isle of MTV.

Isle of RTK is set to feature American Christian acts Lauren Daigle, for KING & COUNTRY, Elevation Worship, and P.O.D, as well as local artists Matthew Grech, Phylissiene Brincat, Ludwig Galea, Gianluca Bezzina and Australia-based Maltese singer/song writer Rob Galea.

“Not all young people want to take part in the den of debauchery that is Isle of MTV, RTK chairman and festival organiser Fr Nicholas Cachia told Bis-Serjetà.

“You won’t find any scantily clad sinners promoting pre-marital sex and drugs here. Just wholesome American and Maltese artists singing about how they belong to Jesus, how they’re obsessed with Jesus, how much they like having Jesus inside them, how Jesus fills them with joy. Perfectly normal stuff like that,” he said.

Following the bands, there will be a DJ set by Fr Joe Borg.

Taking a cue from David Attenborough, who last week made an appearance at Glastonbury, Archbishop Charles Scicluna will be addressing the youths to tell them how only prayer can save the world, while the night will end with a Rosary party.
