The Maltese government has reacted to The Economist labelling Malta as a ‘flawed democracy’ by saying the weekly magazine’s mum is flawed.
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) Democracy Index downgraded Malta from ‘Full Democracy’ status to that of a ‘Flawed Democracy’ for the first time since the index was created in 2006.
In a statement, the government said The Economist should not point fingers at other countries.
“Who is this ‘economist’? What qualifications does he have? Has he ever visited Malta? If he wants to look at something flawed, he should see his mum,” a spokesperson said.
“Seriously, his mum is so ugly. She’s cross-eyed, her nose is crooked and she has broken teeth and smelly breath. And she’s a hunchback. A fat, ugly hunchback.
The spokesperson also speculated that The Economist was a friend of MEPs Roberta Metsola and David Casa.
“They hired this economist to make Malta look bad. But they didn’t anticipate that we’d find out that his mum is also very flawed.”
Meanwhile, tonight’s episode of Pjazza on ONE TV, hosted by Karl Stagno Navarra (no relation) will be dedicated to showing pictures of The Economist’s mother, interspersed with Stagno Navarra and guest Glenn Bedingfield making ‘Yo mama so ugly’ jokes and braying like donkeys.
