The 13-year-old who created the Malta Police Force’s new recruitment video has said the piece is his finest work.
Teenager Jacob Mangion was commissioned to create the high-octane video by father Terence, an officer in the police force’s Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU).
“I think I’ve made something really special. I’d even go as far as saying it’s my magnum opus,” said Mangion, who owns all 15 Call of Duty games.
“At first I didn’t want to take time out from telling other CoD players how I’m going to bang their mums in graphic detail before shooting them in the face. But then dad promised to buy me Modern Warfare 4 when it comes out so I accepted.”
His payment now secure, Mangion got to work.
“I wanted to show how action-packed the average day of a Maltese police officer is. Take yesterday, when my dad told me he took part in a drug bust in the morning, a high speed car chase in the afternoon, and took down a terrorist cell in the evening. And that was a quiet day for him.”
He says the process was not without its difficulties.
“The secret to being a successful creative in the 21st century is not being too precious and knowing when to compromise. For example, I wanted to include footage of the RIU giving Graffitti members a good kicking, but dad said that’s not the image the force wants to portray and that beatings are usually done in private.
“They also insisted that Segways are cool and not at all lame.”
Rather than using the most advanced video editing software such as Final Cut or Adobe Premier, he says he prefers the simplicity and old-school feel of Windows Movie Maker, which he runs on a computer with Windows 7 installed.
After editing the footage, Mangion’s next challenge was finding appropriate music.
“I was tearing my hair out because I wanted something really aggressive to match the sick footage of police breaking down doors, but my generation doesn’t have angry, masculine music.
“I was on the verge of giving up, but then while I was looking for my PS4 controller, which my mum had hidden as punishment for not doing the washing up, my eye was drawn to one of my dad’s old albums with the silhouette of a sexy woman on the cover.
“It was Velvet Revolver’s ‘Contraband’. After jerking off to the sexy woman, I Googled ‘how to play a CD’. As Slash’s outro solo on the opening song faded out I exclaimed, “Yes! This shall be the soundtrack to my masterpiece!” Then I jerked off to the sexy woman again.”
Mangion believes his video will attract many young people to the force.
“Thanks to my work of art and the new uniforms coming out next year, they won’t be able to keep up with applications.”
He is also looking forward to working on future videos for other high profile clients.
“Next week I’m filming a party that Konrad Mizzi is attending so I’m really looking forward to meeting all the sexy woman who’ll definitely want to bang me when I tell them I’ve unlocked all the achievements in Black Ops 4 multiplayer.”
