Professor Charmaine Gauci, the Superintendant for Public Health, has announced there are 17 new cases of Covid-19 in Malta, and that Marthese Portelli is a money-grubbing sell-out.

Yesterday it was reported that Portelli – the former PN representative on the Planning Authority board who resigned abruptly from parliament last month – had accepted an offer to become the first director-general of the Malta Developers Association.

“Good morning everyone. I’d like to update you on the current situation with regard to the Covid-19 coronavirus. Since I spoke to you yesterday, we have found 17 new cases of the virus, and that Marthese Portelli is a money-grubbing sell-out,” Prof Gauci told journalists at the daily briefing.

Elaborating on the latter, Prof, Gauci said Portelli’s appointment represented yet another case of a politician putting monetary gain before their supposed principles,” she added, before pointing out that Portelli allegedly resigned from the PA board because of the rampant corruption that plagued the authority.

“While we’ll hopefully discover a vaccine for Covid-19 in the coming months, I fear there’s no cure for the virus that is the incestuous relationship between Maltese politicians and the construction industry, which incidentally has caused more damage to people’s lungs than the coronavirus ever could.

“Anway, I hope Portelli enjoys her lucrative salary and being Sandro Chetcuti’s sock-puppet. See you all tomorrow,” Prof Gauci concluded.
