Last Sunday, Malta’s Eurovision Song Contest hopeful Destiny Chukunyere performed her first rehearsal in Rotterdam wearing a bright pink dress. As with everything, the dress divided the country. Here’s every single comment made about the dress on social media…
“The dress looks terrible. It just doesn’t suit her. I can’t quite put my finger on the reason. It’s definitely nothing to do with feeling uncomfortable with the idea of a large woman flaunting her curves. I just think she would look much better if she wore an evening gown, or a tent.”
“It’s great that she’s promoting body positivity. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being obese. It’s not like there’s a very high correlation between obesity and health complications or anything. Everyone should be obese.”
“Any man who criticises the dress is sexist and fattist, and should have his balls cut off. If a woman criticises it, she should have balls surgically grafted onto her, and then cut off.”
“It doesn’t matter if Destiny feels comfortable and confident in the dress. What matters is my opinion, because I am special and smart. My mum says so.”
“Why are we talking about her dress? It’s her voice that counts. Everyone knows Eurovision singers all perform from inside a cardboard box. I have never watched Eurovision. Besides, aren’t there are more important issues to worry about?”
“Like the fact Justyne Caruana keeps getting away with being corrupt?”
“Who’s Justyne Caruana?”
