Buġibba street overflows with metaphors

A street in Buġibba has overflowed with metaphors.

The metaphors of different shapes and sizes burst out of the sewers beneath Tourist Street last night, and several could still be seen lying across the road early this morning. Passersby described the stench of symbolism as ‘unbearable’.

Workers arrived on the scene a few hours later to scoop up the rhetorical devices and take them to the Sant Antnin metaphor treatment plant in Marsascala.

Residents of Buġibba say this isn’t the first time the area has experienced problems with figures of speech.

“Aside from the fact that we get inundated with metaphors every time it rains, last summer there was the whole issue of rancid metaphors piling up on street corners and being left to get eaten by rats,” one resident said.

“The government needs to do something immediately or we’re going to become known as ‘that metaphor-hole of a town’,” added another.
