Neville Gafa to release “sassy” pop album about haters

Neville Gafa is planning to release a pop album inspired by his time at the OPM and the ‘haters’ he continues to face.

Gafa told Bis-Serjetà he has been working on the album – provisionally titled ‘Don’t H8 What U Can’t Imit8’ – since he was forced out of the OPM after his contract was not renewed by new Prime Minister Robert Abela.

“A lot of people have talked shit about me ever since I was hired by my boo thang Joseph Muscat. And even though I don’t work at OPM anymore, they continue to throw shade at me. This album is my defiant response to the liars and the haters,” Gafa said, while describing the songs as sassy, upbeat and revealing.

“I used to be in a satanic black metal band when I was a teenager, but I’ve since mellowed out and now I jam to Tay Tay,” he said, referring to American singer/songwriter Taylor Swift.

Gafa also cited Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Lizzo as other musical influences, while the album will feature collaborations with close friends Keith Schembri and Joseph Muscat (collectively known as The Boy Squad amongst themselves), and Mary Spiteri.

Lyrically, Gafa said the album would be in the same vein as the motivational quotes with which he often accompanies his selfies on Facebook, which include ‘They Don’t Like You But Still Find Time To Watch Everything You Do’, ‘ Be A Warrior Not A Worrier’, and ‘I Don’t Stop When I’m Tired. I Stop When I’m Done.’

“Last week I was in North Africa putting the final touches on my tour schedule. Tickets to the shows will cost roughly the same as a Maltese medical visa,” he said.
