Badass non-resident drives right past ‘Residents Only’ sign

Karl Stennienibarra

A badass man has driven right past a ‘Residents Only’ sign, even though he doesn’t even live on the street.

Luke Theuma, 26, performed the daring feat at 7:15 pm yesterday, driving through Triq Il-Bajtar in Naxxar with reckless abandon despite the fact he lives in Mosta, and was not rendering a service.

“I’m usually a very cautious person, especially while driving. So when I was about to turn into the street and saw the ‘Residents Only’ sign, my first instinct was to find another route,” Theuma told Bis-Serjetà.

But then I realised there were no workers or heavy machinery blocking the road and, heart racing, I thought, ‘Fuck it, you only live once’, and turned into the street anyway,” he added, describing the experience as “exhilarating”.

“As I reached the other end of the street, I was worried I’d find a gaping hole in the road and be forced to reverse back like an idiot. But no, I drove right into the next street without even feeling a bump. And even if someone had stopped me, how could they have proven I wasn’t rendering a service? I might have been delivering fish, or carrying out a top-secret mission for the Malta Secret Service.”

Theuma did not rule out performing further acts of brazen disobedience against signage again in the near future.

“Maybe I’ll do a U-turn in front of a ‘No U-turns’ sign. But only at night when there are no other cars on the road – I may be a badass now but I’m not a madman.”
