Chris Peregin is reportedly plotting to oust Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech and replace him with model and influencer Sarah Zerafa.
Peregin, who only yesterday announced he was stepping down as CEO of Lovin Malta to become PN’s chief strategist, is said to have already come to the conclusion that Grech is too bland to ever win a general election.
“During a meeting, Chris suggested to Bernard that he should get a dog to bite his face, as that worked wonders for Sarah Zerafa’s career,” a PN source told Bis-Serjetà.
After Grech refused, Peregin is said to have told other party members that maybe Zerafa herself should be PN leader.
“He said he’d already made her famous once, and pointed out she had 238,000 followers on Instagram, compared to Grech’s 5,000,” the source added.
“Then his eyes suddenly lit up and he said, ‘Il-allu guys, I just thought of a super campaign slogan – Angry and fancying a change in government?'”
According to the source, Peregin also mooted the possibility of choosing election candidates via X-Factor.
“Think of all the sponsorship opportunities. I’ll have a chat with Silvio Debono,” he is said to have exclaimed.
Meanwhile, PN’s new strategist has also reportedly set the goal of convincing conservative Mosta MP Edwin Vassallo to dance in next year’s pride parade.
